Abstract

1,144,718. Protective clothing. UNITEX. 13 April, 1967 [21 April, 1966], No. 16995/67. Heading A3V. A wet suit or partial covering for aquatic wear comprises a strip of flexible stretchable material, with at least one opening at each end, which is wound under tension round a selected part of the body and is anchored at each end by passing an arm, leg &c. through each opening. Suitable material is foamed neoprene. A trunk strip 10, for example, has one or two leg openings and one or two arm openings. A leg strip may have a portion of increased width midway of its length. Several strips are used for complete coverage, optionally in combination with a short vest or trunks. The material around the openings is reinforced e.g. by local impregnation with e.g. rubber or synthetic plastics or by making the ends of each strip of material of greater tensile strength than the rest of the strip.
