Abstract

1,143,681. Reciprocating motors. DOWTY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. June 29, 1966 [July 17, 1965], No.30455/65. Addition to 1, 108, 554. Heading F1A. The motor of the parent Specification is modified by the provision in the stationary valve plate of restricted flow passages 50, 55, 59, 61 opening into the bridges 52, 53 in the path swept by the ports in the rotating cylinder block. The port 54 in the bridge 52 which is passed over by the auxiliary cylinder ports, 51 Fig. 3, is connected to the high-pressure main port 33 or 34 by means of a valve, 58 Fig. 4, and a passage 56 or 57 under the bridge. The port 62 in the bridge 53 is connected to a zone at a pressure equal to that in the low-pressure main port 34 or 33. The motor may be of the tilting head type, Fig. 1 (not shown), with cylinders formed wholly in the rotating cylinder block. The cylinders may alternatively be in the form of seperate telescopic units supported between a drive flange and a ported block, rotating on the valve plate or formed in auxiliary cylinder block connected by hollow sleeves to the block rotating on the valve plate.
