Abstract

An .extruded aluminium strip for the auxiliary frame of an additional pane for the conversion of a single glazed to a doubleglazed sash comprises a channel 1 for the marginal portion of the glass with packing strip 4, a flange 2 for securing the frame to an existing sash by e.g. screws through holes spaced along the groove 8, the flange 2 being spaced from the channel by a spacer portion 3, to provide in the double glazed window a space between the two panes there being provided a series of spaced ventholes along the groove 7 in the lower horizontal member of the frame communicating the space between the panes with the atmosphere and a groove formed by shoulder 5 and sloping groove 6 for an adjustable slider strip 10 of rigid P.V.C., there being also a series of holes, in the side members of the frame, preferably towards the top of these members, to allow the airflow between the panes, and the top horizontal frame member being without holes. The tightening of a screw 11 in the slider 10 forces one end of the slider away from the spacer portion 3 and presses' the other end against the lower side cf the spacer portion 3 so that the holes will be blocked accordingly.
