Abstract

1,137,476. Charge transfer complex. RANK XEROX Ltd. 17 Jan., 1966 [18 Jan., 1965], No. 2201/66. Heading C3R. [Also in Division H1] The Specification discloses a charge transfer complex of a Lewis acid and a resin made by reacting an aromatic poly-isocyanate with an organic compound having at least two active hydrogen-containing groups. In the examples the resin is made from polymethylene polyphenyl - isocyanate and 2,4 - (bis - hydroxyphenol)-propane, whilst the Lewis acid may be 2,4,7, trinitrofluorenone or p ,p<SP>1</SP>-diamino -phenyl - methane. Brilliant green may be used as a sensitizing dyestuff. Numerous Lewis acids of the inorganic and organic types are specified together with lists of reactants for forming the polyurethane resins. An electrophotographic plate may be obtained by coating the material on an aluminium foil or by forming a selfsupporting transparent layer of the material.
