1,137,356. Girdles. PENN-DALE KNITTING MILLS, Inc. 22 Dec., 1965, No. 54462/65. Heading A3V. [Also in Division D1] A knitted girdle is produced on a full fashion knitting machine such that the blank produced, Fig. 1, has its top and bottom edges subsequently seamed together with the result that the courses extend vertically in the garment when worn. The blank is produced by commencing with a normal selvedge 2 and then knitting a three course sequence of right twist no twist and left twist yarns. The right and left twist yarns may be of a stretchable nature such as that known as "Vyrene" (Registered Trade Mark) and the no twist yarn may be a soft yarn known as "Fluflon" (Registered Trade Mark) but of a less stretchable nature. A more firm panel 13 knitted of the soft yarn having less stretch is incorporated and the yarns may all be plated when knitted with a texturized nylon yarn. To avoid a bulky join 11 at the junction of the panel and remainder of the garment, the two main yarns are not knitted together at the join.
