Abstract

1293326 Panty-type garment INTERNATIONAL STRETCH PRODUCTS Inc 28 July 1971 35539/71 Heading A3V A contoured panty-type garment is made from a section of two-way stretch warp knitted fabric 10 with one-way longitudinally stretchable selvedges 12 and 13 forming waist and leg encirling bands respectively in the finished garment, the section having cut end edges 14 and 15 each terminating at a point spaced from the selvedge 13 leaving cut edges 16 and 17, the edges 14 and 15 being sewn together at a seam 19 to form a tubular garment preform, Fig. 2; a small section of fabric 22 then being removed leaving severed edges 20, midway between the arcuate edges, which are then sewn at seam 23 to the cut edges 16 and 17 so as to form two leg encircling bands 13a and 13b from the elastic selvedge 13. In a second embodiment (not shown) a separate crotch piece, of similar warp knitted fabric, is fitted in the crotch of the garment between edges 20 and 16, 17. The end edges 14 and 15 may be concavely or straight cut (not shown).
