Abstract
1,136,864. Calcining apparatus. ALLISCHALMERS MFG. CO. 20 July, 1966 [21 July, 1965], No. 32543/66. Heading F4B. Apparatus for heat treating minerals, e.g. limestone, cement raw materials or iron ore agglomerates, includes a drying chamber 4 and a preheating chamber 5 traversed by a gas pervious travelling grate 1, a rotary kiln 8, a cooler 11, and a waste gas system connecting chambers 5 and 4 comprising a valve-controlled duct 26 having a valve-controlled air inlet 30, and plenum chambers 22 below the grate 1 leading to a duct 23, both ducts leading to a cyclone separator 24 and a fan 35. The waste gases are exhausted downwardly through the material in chamber 4 via a plenum chamber 40, duct 41 and fan 42 discharging into chimney 44. Additional cool air may be added by valvecontrolled duct 37 and chamber 5 may have an additional burner 6 which is used during the roasting of haematites. An auxiliary stack 45 closed by a cap 46 is used during heating up of the apparatus, and dampers 48 and 49 are disposed in the inlets of fans 35 and 42.
