Abstract

1511066 Producing cement FIVES-CAIL BABCOCK 21 Oct 1976 [23 Oct 1975] 43767/76 Heading F4B In an installation suitable for cement production the major portion of raw materials are heated in a preheater (not shown) by combustion gases from a rotary furnace 10 and can also be treated in a calcining chamber (not shown) before passing into the furnace. A smaller portion of the raw materials are introduced into the installation at F and are at least partially calcined by air at a temperature of 900-1000‹ C., from a clinker cooler 14, that is circulated by a fan 34 round a heat exchanger comprising cyclones 22, 24 and 26. Heated air from the cooler 14 also supplies secondary air for the furnace 10 and can be led via a duct 46 for supplying the calcining chamber for the major flow of raw materials. Materials entering at F are preheated in a duct 40 and then separated by a cyclone 38 so that they pass into a duct 28 of the heat exchanger. Material heated and partially calcined in the heat exchanger may be injected through the fuel nozzle 44 into the furnace 10 by the fan 42.
