Abstract

Cement raw material is preheated 3 by the exhaust gases from a rotary kiln 5. The material from granulating plates 6, 7 flows down shafts 2, 3 arranged on either side of an exhaust gas shaft 1. The exhaust gases are drawn through the louvred walls 25, 26 of the shafts 2, 3, nozzles 16, 16a and dust extractors 21, 21a by fans and then passed through the louvred walls 28, 29 of the upper part of the shafts 2, 3 to the upper part 30 of the gas shaft above a transverse wall 23. A further dust extractor and fan system may withdraw the gases from the upper part of the shaft.
