Abstract

1,134,136. Hydro-pneumatic apparatus. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. March 14, 1966 [March 18, 1965], No.11108/66. Heading F1P. An expansion tank especially for accommodating the expansion of incompressible fluid such as molten metal, comprises a metal enclosure with fixed ends 1, 2 separated by a metal bellows 8 having a partition 12 dividing the enclosure into a pressurized gas chamber 14 and a chamber 13 for the molten metal. The partition 12 has an apertured extension 19 carrying a valve 18 controlling the admission of molten metal to the chamber 13 from a conduit 15. The ends 1, 2 are maintained in fixed spaced relationship by tie-rods 5 secured by nuts 7 to flanges 3, 4 of the ends 1, 2. To avoid deformation of the bellows under pressure fixed hoops 25, 27 are disposed in the two outermost troughs of the bellows while a movable hoop 26 is disposed in the central trough. A nozzle 24 for charging gas to the chamber 14 also serves as a stop for limiting the movement of the bellows.
