1,133,078. Degassing and refining molten metals. STANDARD - MESSO DUISBURG GESELLSCHAFT FUR CHEMIETECHNIK m.b.H. & CO. Aug. 2, 1966 [Sept. 2, 1965], No. 34564/66. Heading C7D. In a process for vacuum degassing molten metals of the type using a vessel having an immersion tube dipping into the bath through which portions are intermittently raised for treatment, reactive gases such as hydrogen, oxygen, methane, carbon tetrachloride, chlorine or sodium vapour are passed into the vessel through plasma torches. Movement of the metal into and out of the treatment vessel may be effected by switching on and off the plasma stream.
