Search-lights; vehicular lanterns; electric-lamp lanterns.-In a search-light, headlight, or like lamp, the source of light is mounted so that it can be displaced in various directions and its support does not pass through the reflecting-surface of the reflector. In one form, the holder d' of an electric lamp d is rotatably and slidably mounted in a boss c<1> of a vertical rotatable support c mounted in semicircular gripping-blocks or clips b<0>, b<1> or the like on the lantern casing in front of a parabolic reflector a in such a manner that the support is axially adjustable. The holder d<1> is secured in position by means of a set-screw e or otherwise. In a modification, the lampholder is moved longitudinally along the support c, which may also be axially adjustable. The lamp terminals are connected to the electric leads f<2>, f<1> respectively through the metal of the support c and through a flexible contact member i<1>, an insulated blade i on the support c, and a contact h of semicircular section, which fits a dovetailed groove in a plate of fibre or other insulating- material on one element b<1> of the lower gripping- block. A contact i<0> on the blade i presses against the contact h. The filaments of the lamp may be arranged in pairs parallel to the axis of the lamp and in planes passing through the axis.
