Abstract

1,130,980. Carpet cleaning apparatus. GLAMORENE PRODUCTS CO. 12 Aug., 1966 [18 Aug., 1965], No. 36269/66. Heading A4F. 6 A carpet cleaner comprising a pair of cylindrical roller brushes 16 rotatable about their longitudinal axes is provided with adjustable brackets 17, 18 which support the brushes in an adjustable V-formation. The brackets 17, 18 which are of generally inverted U-shape have legs (27, 28) (Fig. 4, not shown) to which the brushes 16 are attached by brushes (29) and are provided with overlapping extensions (35, 36) which are engageable by a threaded stud (34) which passes through a slot 31 in a housing 12 and to which an adjusting knob (19) is attached. On rotation of the knob (19) in one direction, the extensions (35, 36) are released by the stud (34) and the stud (34) as well as the brackets 17, 18 which are adjustably supported in the housing 12 by screws 24 are movable to adjust the V-formation of the brushes 16 locking of the extensions (35, 36) in the adjusted position of the brackets 17, 18 being then effected on rotation of the knob (19) in the opposite direction. The housing 12 is provided with reinforcing ribs 20, 21, 22 and with a socket (15) (Fig. 7, not shown) in which a handle (14) is secured.
