Abstract

875,481. Seats. MORRIS MOTORS Ltd. Feb. 1, 1960 [Feb. 10, 1959], No. 4562/59. Class 52(2). In an adjustable seat supported on crossed stays 2, 3 which are pivoted at 4, 5 and 6 and slidably pivoted in slot 2, 8 clamping means operating through over-lapping slots 8 determine the point at which the stays intersect and, accordingly, the angle of adjustment of the seat. The clamping means may include a screw-threaded rod passing under the seat and carrying a knurled clamping disc which presses a serrated clamping block 12 and the serrated flanges of stay 3 together. As long as the block 12 cannot be moved along the stay, the seat cannot be angularly adjusted. Accordingly, a spring washer is provided to disengage the serrations when the clamping means is loosened to allow the angular adjustment. For adjusting the height of the seat, the serrations remain engaged and a double start screw-thread 25 runs in a nut carried by draw bars 27 as handle 21 is turned to move the pivot along slot 28. Runners 7 are carried on slides and located by means of levers 30 engaging notches in the slides (Fig. 3, not shown).
