885,266. Cutting sheet plastic. LONZA ELECTRIC & CHEMICAL WORKS Ltd. Oct. 13, 1960 [Oct. 16, 1959], No. 35102/60. Class 87(2). [Also in Group II] Apparatus for granulating plastic sheet material 7 comprises a toothed bed knife 5 co-operable with straight-edge knives 3 and profiled knives 4 adjustably secured to a rotatable knife support 2. The knives 3, 4 may be aligned, or staggered, circumferentially of the support 2. One end of the knife support and the corresponding end of the bed knife are fixed, the other end of the knife support being axially slidable and the other end of the bed knife being slidable axially and laterally. The material of the knife support and that of the bed knife preferably have the same coefficient of expansion. The material 7 is fed stepwise by means of rollers 8, the length of each feed step being less than the length of a tooth of the bed knife.
