Abstract

In an electrical terminal comprising a screw 1 inserted in a threaded hole 4 passing through a portion of the terminal body 5, the intermediate portion 10 of the screw remote from its head has its diameter 11 reduced to not more than the root diameter 12 of the threaded portion.3. The axial length 13 of the reduced portion of the screw is not less than the axial length 14 of the terminal portion through which the hole 4 passes, so that the screw cannot be completely withdrawn when simply turned by a screwdriver. The final threaded portion 15 of the screw prevents its inadvertent complete withdrawal when it is loosened to insert or remove a conductor in hole 7. In alternative embodiments the screw is provided with plain or cup washers between its head and the terminal body to retain conductors in position around the screw. In a further embodiment the screw may be used directly in a hollow terminal bar which is arranged to receive conductors in its hollow part.
