Abstract
1,008,995. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. Jan. 10, 1964 [Feb. 5, 1963], No. 4606/63. Addition to 914,321. Heading H2E. In a bullet plug rolled from sheet-metal, as described in the parent Specification, having at one end a cylindrical nose 1 and at the other end a ring 2 of the same diameter as the nose, and between the two a ferrule-forming portion 3 for crimping on to a conductor, the base of the ferrule-forming portion is formed before crimping longitudinally with an indent 4. This allows a greater volume of metal to be retained in the ferrule-forming portion, and also stiffens the plug against bending forces. The ring 2 is provided with indents 7 to form lance tips for biting into the insulation of a conductor connected to the plug.
