Abstract

1,203,559. Two-part couplings. MOLEX PRODUCTS CO. 17 April, 1969 [26 Sept., 1968], No. 19665/69. Heading H2E. A female contact 10 comprises a hollow, axially split cylinder and has at least one eccentric reinforcing rib 38. The contact, which is preferably of a resilient tin-plated brass, has crimping arms 16, 18 for connection to a wire (not shown) and locating lances 30. Each reinforcing rib 38 is of maximum axial width diametrically opposite the slit 36, has an arcuate cross-section, and tapers towards the slit. If the complementary male plug is of square cross-section the slit may define a tab (48, Fig. 6, not shown) which prevents a corner of the plug entering the slit. The contact is formed by stamping out from a sheet of metal and then rolling.
