Abstract

1412437 Connectors AMP Inc 8 Nov 1973 [17 Nov 1972] 53234/72 Heading H2E A connector comprises a contact 10 stamped from sheet metal having a leg 12, and a resilient tongue 13 inclined to the leg, at least one lateral edge of the tongue or the leg having an outstanding flange 14 protruding towards the leg or tongue respectively to define an abutment 15 to limit movement of the tongue towards the leg, and an insulating housing 11 having a cavity 18 in which the contact 10 is located with the free end of the tongue 13 abutting a wall 22, first and second apertures 21, 23 being in a wall adjacent the wall 22 for receiving respectively the free end of a wire to be held between the free end of the tongue and the wall 22 and a tool 25 for flexing the tongue to free the wire end. The housing includes a boss 19 for guiding the end of the wire, and recesses (26) holding ears 16 on the leg to locate the contact, the ears also acting as a receptacle for receiving a tab or wire.
