Abstract

1489959 Electrical contact AMP Inc 20 Oct 1975 [5 Nov 1974] 42956/75 Heading H2E An electrical contact mode of resilient metal has a first contact portion 1, a second contact portion 2 and an intermediate mounting portion 3 which comprises two spaced beam members 4 and 5; members 4 and 5 are bowed, in opposite senses, in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the contact and also bowed, in the same sense, in a second direction perpendicular to said direction and to said axis, so that when fitted in a hole (7) in a substrate, e.g. a pcb or connector housing (Fig. 4, not shown), the beam portions resiliently engage the walls of the hole. The contact also has a portion 9 of reduced width, providing shoulders 10, said portion 9 can be twisted through 90 degrees so that shoulders 10 engage a surface of substrate (8, Fig. 4, not shown). In a modification (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) the mounting portion (3) has a wedge shape and there is no reduced width portion.
