Abstract

1410651 Electric couplings RISTS WIRES & CABLES Ltd 15 Feb 1973 [25 Feb 1972] 8936/72 Heading H2E [Also in Division B3] An electrical connecting piece for engagement within, e.g. a terminal block (not shown), and capable of being attached to an electrical lead, is formed from a blanked sheet 5 in which a portion 6 is formed, the partially formed blank (Fig. 1) is then subjected to a rolling treatment whereby edges of the body 5 are rolled (Fig. 3) and an indentation 8 is then formed in the body, by a tool (not shown) simultaneously forming barb 7, which is curved similarly to the body 5. The indented portion, being work-hardened, produces an area of high strength, at the joint between barb 7 and body 5. The blank may be further rolled into a pin type connector (Fig. 4, not shown), wherein the indented portion 8 is depressed to the same circumference as the cylindrical body 5.
