Abstract

1405726 Spark plug connector ESSEX INTERNATIONAL Inc 7 Feb 1973 [11 Feb 1972] 5930/73 Heading H2E An electrical connector, particularly for a spark plug, comprises a central portion 8 bent to form a tube with a seam 9 separated by slots 10, 11 to form a cable crimping portion 1 and another tubular portion 3, surrounded by spring clips 5, for fitting the plug. An elongated indentation, the bottom cross-section of which is arcuate in both transverse and axial crosssection, is formed on portion 8 by placing it between the parts 13, 15 of a die and punching with a tool 18, Figs. 4 and 5. The seam 9 may be diametrically opposite or at 90 degrees to the punch. The indentation may then be punched with another tool wide enough for the indented portion to fit closely within the undeformed part. The tube 8 may be bent about the indented portion in a die, Fig. 10, dimensioned to provide an included angle of 90, 110, 130 degrees between the ends of the tube. The connector may be provided with an insulating sleeve.
