Abstract
1,127,994. Magnetic couplings. ETABS. Ed. JAEGER S.A. 12 July, 1967 [13 July, 1966; 10 Jan., 1967], No. 32001/67. Heading H2A. A magnetic powder coupling or brake comprises a pair of pole-discs 5, 6, polarized by a series of magnets 4 located in holes in a non- magnetic carrier. The working gaps 10 lie between the peripheries of discs 5, 6, and an outer ring 11. A shunt 7 may be screwed in or out to vary the coupling. The device may be cooled by air or liquid in a sealed housing. The shunt may be outside the magnet unit (Fig. 4, not shown).
