Abstract

1,127,386. Finishing yarn. ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd. 14 March, 1967 [7 April, 1966], No. 15570/66. Headings D1F, D1L and D1W. A stabilised torque-free or torque reduced yarn is produced by false-twisting yarn of natural or man-made staple fibres and heating the yarn while twisted, winding the yarn on a package rotating at a peripheral speed 10-50% less than the speed at which the yarn is fed to the package, and subjecting the package to a heat-setting treatment. The packages may be subjected to a steam treatment at normal atmospheric, or reduced or increased pressure by being loaded on racks movable into a steam chamber, or to a treatment in hot air or in a hot dye or scouring bath. In examples the yarn was comprised by a two fold yarn blended from worsted and polyester fibres, a three fold woollen yarn, or a cellulose acetate yarn.
