Abstract
881,729. Finishing yarns. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 10, 1958 [Jan. 12, 1957], No. 1247/57. Class 120(3) A false-twist crimped bulked yarn of synthetic, e.g. nylon, filaments is modified by subjection to a controlled degree of relaxation followed by a heat-setting treatment. The yarn product is free from torque in the singles form and is stabilized, i.e. it is fully crimped so that it does not need to be shrunk in garment or fabric form to develop the inherent crimp. The relaxation may be a continuation of the bulking process, e.g. the yarn is fed from the false-twisting machine to a wind-up mechanism which winds it on to a package at a linear speed which is a fixed amount less than the linear speed of yarn from the machine, and may be effected on the same, e.g. a modified up-twister, or a separate machine. The package may then be heated under pressure in a steam oven.
