Abstract
1,126,015. Stitching device for use in tyre manufacture. SEMPERIT OSTERREICHISCH - AMERIKANISCHE GUMMIWERKE A.G. 12 July, 1967 [13 July, 1966], No. 31966/67. Heading B7C. An inflatable stitching roller 4 is ellipsoid in shape, the major axis of the ellipsoid being parallel to the axis of the tyre-building drum 1 and the width of the roller being the same as that of the drum. In use, roller 4, which is rotatably mounted on shaft 5, is loaded against tread 3 and the sidewall portions by a piston (not shown), acting on bearings 6. The roller 4 may be inflated by introduction of air through line 7 and passage 8. Alternatively, the roller 4 may be inflated through a non-return valve.
