1,079,230. Building pneumatic tyres. CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE A.G. July 28, 1965 [July 31, 1964], No. 32230/65. Heading B7C. A braced-tread tyre with radial cords in the carcass sidewalls regions is built by overlapping cross-laid parallel cord plies 1-4 on the crown only of a high-crown building drum, turning down the free edges 7 over the sides 9 of the drum, and simultaneously or subsequently rotating the edges 7 relatively to the drum until the cords therein extend in radial planes. Pressure may be applied as at 13 to prevent the plies from shifting in the crown region.
