1,125,089. Testing lamp circuits. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Aug.14, 1967 [Sept. 9 1966], No.40310/66. Heading G1U. [Also in Division H2] A circuit for enabling the driver of a road vehicle to ascertain the correct functioning of the brake lamps 13 of the vehicle comprises a test lamp 16 and a resistor 14 connectible to the brake lamp 13 by a two-position switch 15, the first position of the switch 15 energizing the lamp 13 by way of the resistor 14 and the second position of the switch connecting the test lamp 16 across the resistor 14 whilst maintaining the energization of the brake lamp 13 over the resistor 14. The lamp 16 thus indicates the correct functioning of the brake lamp 13 and the resistor 14 is provided to protect the test lamp 16 from the current surges which would arise should the test lamp 16 be connected to a cold brake lamp 13. The switch 12 is the normal brake lamp operating switch.
