916,724. Vehicle direction indicator systems. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., JOSEPH. Nov. 15, 1961 [Dec. 15, 1960], No. 43164/60. Class 118. Relates to a vehicle direction indicator system of the kind comprising a manually operable three-position switch 10 having a contact arm 9, adapted for connection through a flasher unit 1 to a source of supply (connected to terminal 2), and a pair of contact-pieces 11, 12 through which the flasher unit can be connected alternatively to lamps 13, 14 on opposite sides of the vehicle respectively. A second switch 4, in its normal position shown, connects the flasher unit to the arm 9, but in its other, emergency, position, connects the unit to one of the said pair of contact-pieces 12, and also to the coil of a relay 16. Over a normally open switch 15 operable by the said relay, the other of the said pair of contact-pieces 11 is connected to the source of supply so that both lamps 13, 14 flash. Indicator lamps 3 and 17 may be included in the system.
