Abstract
1279220 Road traffic signals on vehicles G G ACEA 3 June 1971 [24 July 1970] 18893/71 Heading G4Q In order to provide flashing signal lights on the trailer of a vehicle having flashing lights controlled by a bi-metallic switch 4, each of the lamps 6<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>1</SP> on the trailer is connected to an electronic switch, e.g. transistor 8, the control electrode of which is connected via a resistor 12 to the positive terminal 11 of the corresponding lamp 6, 7 on the vehicle. On operating direction indicator switch 5, a small fraction of the current flowing to lamp 6 or 7 passes through line 10 to the base of transistor 8 thus allowing current to flow through line 9 to the trailer lamp. The transistors may be arranged in a sleeve interposed between multipoint connectors on the vehicle and trailer, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), or may be carried by the vehicle or incorporated in the vehicle or trailer connectors. Stop light wiring may be also connected to the trailer.
