Abstract

1394472 Road traffic signals on vehicles WESTFALISCHE METALL INDUSTRIE KG HUECK & CO 22 Feb 1973 [22 Feb 1972] 8755/73 Heading G4Q In a motor vehicle flashing light circuit comprising a flash generator (BG), a series of flasher lamps, and a direction indicator switch (FS), the rear lamps are dimmed at night by means of a main relay TN2 which is actuated by the vehicle road light switch (LS) and brings into the flashing light circuit one of the resistors R 2 , R 3 each of which is connected with a further relay Rel C, Rel D which restores the current flow through the flash generator to that when the flashing lights are not dimmed. As shown in Fig. 2, actuating relay TN1 is energized by switching on the road lights, closes contact K1 to energize the main relay TN2, and opens contact K2 to dim the brake lights connected at 54. Relay TN2 opens contacts K 3 , K 4 and so introduces resistors R 2 , R 3 into the direction indicator circuits. Relays Rel C and Rel D operate to introduce a compensating current through resistor R4. The relay TN2 operates with a slight delay so that there is an initial unreduced current in the flash generator. A thermorelay E breaks the circuit if excess current flows due to a fault. On closing a warning flasher switch (WS) all the lamps flash simultaneously at full intensity. In a modified circuit, Fig. 4 (not shown), the resistor R4 is omitted and the winding of relay TN2 is connected in a different manner so as to act as a resistance. Specification 1,303,129 is referred to.
