Abstract
1,207,345. Dual supply systems for vehicle trailers. BERG MFG. & SALES CO. 3 Nov., 1967 [8 Dec., 1966], No. 50135/67. Heading H2H. Vehicle trailer apparatus designed to operate at a specified voltage is provided with means for protecting the apparatus when inadvertently connected to a supply having a voltage higher than the specified voltage all the apparatus being mounted on the trailer. Lamps 15 designed to operate at 12 volts and situated on a vehicle trailer are connected to a multiple plug 11 by way of resistors 19 and conductors 13, the resistors normally being short circuited by the closed contacts 23 of relays 27. If a vehicle having a supply of 12 volts is connected to the plug 11 the relays 27 remain unoperated and thus allow the lamps 15 to function normally. If, however, a vehicle having a higher voltage supply, say 24 volts, is connected to the plug 11 the relays 27 operate to open contacts 23 thus inserting the resistors 19 in series with the lamps 15 thus reducing the voltage at the lamps to the designed voltage.
