Abstract

1,123,827. Spray-producers. N. N. URBANOWICZ. 23 Aug., 1965 [19 June, 1965], No. 36069/65. Heading B2F. An apparatus suitable for producing a medical spray from a liquid or powder fed through a tube 18 comprises a receptacle 10 having a single central aperture 14 in its bottom wall 12 and a conduit 16 which supplies compressed air to the aperture and atomizes the spray material in the receptacle. The spray material is fed to the receptacle through adjustable supply means 18 whereby a thin film or layer is maintained on the bottom wall. The atomized material leaves via the open upper end of the receptacle. The bottom wall of the receptacle may be variously shaped, Figs. 2-4 (not shown). In the embodiment of Fig. 5 (not shown) an air chamber (28) is provided below the bottom wall of the receptacle, which wall is formed as a membrane with a plurality of apertures so that it vibrates at a high frequency under the air pressure. A slotted screen (34) assists the atomization, together with an adjustable baffle (38). In a further embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown) variable air pressure is supplied to a liquid reservoir (50) causing the liquid to be fed to an apertured receptacle (20) via a pipe (51).
