Abstract

A diesel fuel comprises a major proportion of a hydrocarbon suitable for use as a diesel fuel, 0.01-1.0% wt. of an organic nitrate and 0.01-0.2% wt. (expressed as metal) of an oil-soluble alkaline earth metal salt of an organic acid. Nitrates specified are cyclohexyl nitrate and 1-methoxy propyl-2-nitrate. Salts specified are the neutral and basic salts of sulphonic, alkyl salicylic and naphthenic acids. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 802,612.
