Abstract

1,182,548. Petroleum fuel additive composition. MARATHON OIL CO. 13 Sept., 1968 [13 Sept., 1967], No. 43595/68. Heading C5G. An additive composition, for use in an aromatic rich petroleum spirit having a RON of 90-105 and containing an organo-lead antiknock, comprises a compound of the formula P 4 S 3 and a second compound of the formula where R is H or C 1 -C 20 alkyl, A is a carboxylate anion containing at least 2 carbon atoms. The additive composition may be used in an amount 0À01-5% by wt. of the petroleum spirit. In an Example a composition of P 4 S 3 and N- methylanilinium acetate was added to a petroleum spirit containing 3 c.c./gallon of tetraethyl lead.
