Driving-gear; frames.-In an engine having a cylinder 1 with oppositely moving pistons which actuate an overhead crank-shaft 10 through beams 4, 5, the framework is strengthened by rods 12 or is itself constructed of girders which carry the bearings for the crank-shaft and the beams. The crank shaft may be located beneath the cylinder.
