Abstract

1,121,794. Sliding window drainage. G. CARTER. 29 June, 1967 [5 July, 1966], No. 30156/66. Heading E1J. In a sliding window having extruded aluminium sashes and top and bottom guide channels set in a wooden frame an aluminium plate 10 covers the portion of the wooden sill on which the bottom channel 4 is supported so that water draining from the channel 4 through holes in the bottom of the V-shaped base falls on to the plate 10 and runs along it to recesses in the edge portion of the descender 14 of the bottom channel 4. The upper side of the plate 10 has an upturned flange 11 ending in a rib 9 received in a channel 8 on the underside of the base of the bottom channel to form a weather excluder. Nylon runners 21 are provided to run on upstanding ribs 12 on the base of the guide and nylon strips are received in the side grooves of the frame and act as draft excluders.
