Abstract

1451002 Door threshold and weatherseals SCHLEGEL MFG CO 25 Jan 1974 [26 Jan 1973] 03602/74 Heading E1J A threshold 15 preferably a plastics or metal extrusion has a chamber 20 with a drain 24 and a top opening near the jambs 11. The drain empties outside the door 10 e.g. on to the sill 19. The jamb 11 has a weatherseal 16 shaped to conduct water downwards and via a piece of pile material into the top opening of the chamber. The weatherseal 16 may comprise leaf seals 17 in contact with the edge of the door 10 and 18 in contact with the face. The bottom of the door may have a seal 36 comprising two resilient strips 37 and flexible fins 38. The drain may be provided under the sill 19. The top opening may be connected directly to the drain by a tube. The central section of the chamber may be separated from the ends and kept dry. Additional top openings may be provided in the case of double doors.
