Abstract

661,343. Windows. GENERAL BRONZE CORPORATION. Jan. 30, 1947 [Feb. 14, 1946], No. 23057/49. Divided out of 661,265. Class 20(iii) The spaces between vertically sliding window sashes 21 and the vertical guides in the jambs 25 are sealed against weather by a resilient stainless steel strip 83 which is sprung into position and is trapped between the bottom of the channel formed by side flanges 87, 90 of the sash, and a longitudinal bead 86 on the flange 87, the strip extending around the edge of the flange 87 to the other side thereof from which it is spaced. The strip 83 thus presses resiliently against the flange 89 of the jamb and forces the flange 90 of the sash into contact with an insert 91 of selflubricating metal held in the parting strip of the jamb. The upper and lower rails of the lower sash are of rectilinear tubular section and have extension flanges which accommodate and retain resilient metal strips adapted to seal against a flange extending from the lower rail of the upper sash and against the sill part of the frame. The upper rail of the upper sash has a similar sealing strip which engages the upper rail of the frame.
