Abstract

1,121,577. Rollers. SCOTT PAPER CO. 24 Nov., 1966 [5 April, 1966], No. 52732/66. Heading F2U. [Also in Division F4] A rotary drum drier 10 comprises a cylindrical shell 11 closed by annular heads 12, 13 and rotatably mounted in journals 16, 17 through axial bores 18, 19 in which respectively are introduced steam into the drum interior and condensate and steam are extracted after collection by removal nozzles 23. The nozzles 23 each comprise a tube, the end of which is spaced radially inwardly from the inner surface of the shell by less than # inch and the outer diameter of which has a thickness ratio compared with the shell of between 1: 4 and 1: 10. The nozzles are spaced apart along the length of one or more headers 22 comprising elongated pipes spaced radially inwardly of the inner surface of the shell, the or each header being connected by a conduit 24 to the axial bore 19.
