Abstract
1,111,585. Valves. F. MILLER. 18 Aug, 1966 [15 July, 1965; 29 June, 1966], Nos. 30040/65 and 29068/66. Heading F2V. A thermally-actuated valve comprises a bimetal coil secured at one end to the housing and at its other end to a spindle 6. A lever 4 carried by the spindle actuates a valve 19 and a magnet 14 is arranged to be engaged by the lever 4 when the valve is closed. Thus when the bimetal acts to reopen the valve, the attraction between the lever 4 and magnet 14 delays the opening until the bimetal exerts a force sufficient to overcome the attraction. The lever 4 may itself constitute the valve member. In a modification, the magnet is replaced by a spring lock which has to be overcome before the valve opens.
