Abstract
1,111,393. Resistance heating elements. DOW CORNING CORPORATION. 3 Jan., 1966 [4 Jan., 1965], No. 127/66. Heading H5H. [Also in Division H1] A flexible resistance element comprises a flexible conductive body in which embedded flexible braided open weave metallic electrodes extend along the length of the body. A heating pad 10, comprises a flexible conducting core 14, in which electrodes 12, 13 are embedded, surrounded by an insulating covering 11. The core may be silicone rubber containing a conducting dispersion, and fabric reinforced, the electrodes may be of flattened braided tinned Cu wire and the covering of silicone rubber. Heating pads may be made by feeding uncured core material and electrode material between pressure rollers (16), (17), Fig. 4 (not shown). The core and webs (11), (11a) of insulating material are passed through a second pair of rollers (19), (20) and then through a curing oven. Alternatively, the electrodes and insulation may be secured with adhesives.
