In examples, sodium formate or calcium formate is added to explosive compositions, other ingredients of which are a nitrated mixture of glycerine and ethylene glycol, nitrocotton, ammonium nitrate, ammonium chloride, sodium nitrate, sodium chloride, china clay, kieselguhr and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose.
