Abstract

1,108,155. Space heaters. D. M. A. MANUEL. 13 July, 1965 [13 July, 1964], No. 19960/64. Heading F4S. A combined convector air heater and heat radiator includes a heat exchanger comprising a plurality of spaced rectangular fins 4; each fin having an aperture through which passes a hot water pipe 2 running adjacent a wall 22, and a perpendicular flange 10 on each of its two vertical edges, the end of each flange being joggled to overlap the flange of the adjacent fin. The pipe is expanded to grip the perimeter of the aperture, which is provided with a belledout lip 8 to abut the adjacent fin. The heater is completed by a housing comprising a metal front member 16 supported by and held in close thermal contact with the fins of the heat exchanger by brackets 20 screwed to wall 22, and a wooden top member 18. Air is heated by convection through the heat exchanger (controlled by flap 44), convection over the front face of member 16, and radiation from member 16.
