Abstract
1090293 Space heaters MYSON HEAT EXCHANGERS Ltd 3 July 1964 [10 July 1963 28 May 1964] 27407/63 and 22129/64 Headings F4V and VB2A [Also in Division H5] A combined radiator and convector heater comprises a panel casing 11, capable of being mounted on or against a wall of and one or more banks of elongate heating elements 17, the said casing having a front wall 19, Fig. 2, providing elongate hot air outlets 21 above the or each bank of elements and a rear wall 20 providing cold air inlets 30 below the or each bank of elements, and wherein baffles 22 are arranged to direct the cold air over the banks of heating elements to the outlets 21 while at the same time heat is radiated from the front wall 19 of the casing. The casing also comprises pillars 14 covering headers 15 between which extend the heating elements. The elements 17 shown carry fins 23 which are in contact with the front wall to facilitate the transfer of the radiant heat. Brackets 25 are welded to the headers and the header is supported on the vertical wall 27 by a stud 24 threaded between said bracket and a bracket 26 attached to said wall. In Fig. 6 (not shown) a fan 34 at the base of the heater draws cold air into a rear passage 38 to inlets 30 and the air after passing over heating elements 17 leaves through grilles 32. Fig. 4 (not shown) indicates how the heater can be adapted as a skirting board heater, with a cold air inlet at the front and containing only one bank of heating elements. The heaters may contain high pressure water and be incorporated in a central heating circuit with inlet and outlet pipes attached through plugs 16 in the headers. The heating elements may also form part of a sealed oil-filled circuit arranged within the radiator, and an electric immersion heater (not shown) being provided to heat the oil in the circuit. The immersion heater may be thermostatically controlled and be placed near the bottom of the heater to induce a convection current in the oil.
