Abstract

1,076,593. Unit air heaters; radiators for heating or cooling buildings. G. HANSSON. Sept. 15, 1965 [Sept. 15, 1964; Dec. 14, 1964; Jan. 28, 1965; March 4, 1965], Nos. 37679/64, 50904/64, 3874/65 and 9295/65. Headings F4S and F4V. In a space heater or cooler a blower 19 forces air through a U-shaped passage having vertical outer walls formed by fluidfilled heat exchange panels 10 and 11. A blower may be placed additionally or alternatively at 19A. The panels have top and bottom headers 23 and 24 connected by vertical channels 21 separated by flattened strips 22. Such panels are normally formed by welding together a pair of complementary plates. The heat exchanger may be formed from two panels by bending along appropriate lines, Figs. 3A-3D (not shown), to form the two outer walls 10 and 11, an intermediate wall 16, and end walls 12 and 13, Fig. 1 (not shown). A baffle 20 directs air into the space to be heated. Water enters and leaves the bottom header through pipes 31 and 32, Fig. 4 (not shown). In another construction, Fig. 5 (not shown), the heat exchanger has an open bottom for entry and exit of air, and an open side located against a room wall. In a further construction, Fig. 6 (not shown), the heat exchanger is formed by folding a panel into an elongated four-sided box with end headers in vertical planes for use as a skirting heater.
