110,697. Batmale, P. Dec. 15, 1916, [Convention date]. Limbs, artificial.-The first two fingers 2, 3 are integral with the hand and coact with the thumb 5 which is closed by a spring 8 a.nd is opened by a cord 10, passing over a pulley 11 and attached by an ear 9 to the thumb. The third and fourth fingers 18, 19 are formed in one piece and are operated by a link 21 pivoted to a lever 17 secured to the pivot 6 on the thumb, so that these fingers and the thumb open and close simultaneously. A tight grip is given by a screw 14 and nut 16 which is pivoted to a lug on the thumb and engages an angle-plate 13. In modified construction, the tight grip is effected through links or by a cam. An object can be grasped between the thumb and first finger or in either of the two spaces formed between the thumb, the fixed and the pivoted fingers.
