Abstract

1,105,210. Centrifugal pumps. FISCHER PUMPAR AKTIEBOLAG. June 15, 1966 [June 18, 1965], No. 26694/66. Heading F1C. In a pumping arrangement in which a removable motor-pump unit 5, 5' can be lowered, under the guidance of guide means 6, 7 engaging two vertical guide tubes 2, 2', into connection with a permanently mounted discharge conduit 1', the vertical outlet flange 16 of the pump is spaced as shown from the oblique inlet flange 17 of the discharge conduit. The space 18 between the flanges if filled by a wedge 10 (shown in a withdrawn position) which is apertured to conduct the pumped liquid into the discharge conduit 1'. The flange 17 is square or rectangular in shape, with vertical sides which are embraced by flanged guide members 15, (15') attached to the wedge 10, whereby the wedge is guided to move along the front surface of the flange. Movement of the wedge 10 between the withdrawn and sealing positions is effected by a screw 13 engaging a threaded bore in a support 14 and connected by a non-rotating rod 11 to the wedge. The wedge 10 is raised to the withdrawn position before the pump is lifted. The pump unit may have a horizontal or oblique axis and need not be of submersible type.
