Abstract

1347604 Centrifugal pumps BALTIMORE AIRCOIL CO Inc 7 June 1972 [24 June 1971] 26468/72 Heading F1C A pumping plant comprises vertical guide rods 20 mounted in a sump 12, and a submersible pump unit 22 pivotally connected at 32 to a support 26 which can slide up and down the guide rods, the angle of tilt being limited by a strap 52. The pump unit 22 is lowered by means of a chain 54. After the pump discharge nozzle 44 engages a semi-cylindrical lip projecting from the lower portion 16 of a fixed discharge pipe 14, it slidably enters the lower portion as the unit is further lowered, and the pump unit simultaneously pivots back into the upright position. The circumferential groove shown near the end of the nozzle 44 may accommodate a seal ring.
