Abstract

1,097,987. Mechanical interrupters. METAMORA ELECTRONICS CORPORATION. July 22, 1965, No. 31276/65. Heading H2B. A switch intended for high-speed repeated actuation, e.g. by a cam, comprises a housing with a cylindrical opening rigidly sealingly closed at one end and resiliently sealing closed at the other end, a plunger carrying an annular movable contact co-operating with a fixed contact and operable by force applied to the exterior of the resiliently closed end, the plunger being spring-biased towards the resilientlyclosed end. As shown, the movable contact 244 is carried by a plunger 232 supported by springs 238, 240 and is operated by a button 218 secured to a diaphragm 216. Two fixed contacts 252, 254 are located by spacers 246, 256, 258, 260, the latter having cooling vents 262. The contacts are of silver, but may be aluminium with noble metal inserts (38, 68) and cooling fins (42, 66).
